A B Infrabuild Bags ₹62.94 Crore NHAI Project for National Highway-16 in Odisha

Odisha’s infrastructure is about to be significantly upgraded. A B Infrabuild Limited has officially earned a major contract with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This development represents a significant milestone for the organization and improves regional connectivity.

This project is valued at ₹62,94,04,813.35. It focuses on key safety and traffic flow improvements along one of India’s most important transportation routes. The news has already started to cause tremors in the construction industry and among stock market experts.

Understanding the Project Scope

A B Infrabuild has been granted a contract to build three additional Vehicle Underpasses (VUP). These structures will be positioned at Kilometre 430+380 of National Highway-16. This section is critical for business and passenger traffic travelling through the state of Odisha.

The project encompasses more than just the underpasses. It also includes the construction of complete approach and service roads. These improvements are intended to keep local traffic moving safely while not interfering with the main highway’s high-speed flow.

Strategic Locations for Safety

The construction will focus on locations near College Square and DRDA Square. These locations are along the Puintola to Ichchapuram portion of NH-16. Residents and commuters in these neighbourhoods have long faced high traffic congestion and safety hazards at major crossings.

By creating these underpasses, A B Infrabuild will help to remove dangerous “black spots” where accidents are more likely. The design tries to separate local pedestrian and vehicular traffic from the large long-haul trucks that dominate this route.

The EPC Execution Model

A B Infrabuild will carry out this project using the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) methodology. This indicates that the corporation is in charge of the entire building process. They have control over the entire process, from early design and material sourcing to final construction.

The NHAI prefers the EPC model because of its efficiency. It enables greater quality control and assures that the contractor is totally responsible for the project’s success. For A B Infrabuild, this is an opportunity to demonstrate its engineering skill on a national scale.

Timeline for Completion

Time is critical in infrastructure construction. The official contract includes an 18-month completion period. This tight schedule underlines the importance of strengthening NH-16, the major route between eastern and southern India.

Work is expected to begin shortly after receiving the Letter of Acceptance (LoA). To fulfil this deadline, the corporation must properly manage its logistics and labour. Modern building techniques will most likely be used to reduce disruption to existing traffic during the development.

A Growing Portfolio for A B Infrabuild

This win adds significant weight to A B Infrabuild’s expanding order book. Earlier this year, the business got contracts worth over ₹116 crore. These projects included extensive work for the East Coast Railways and the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation.

By repeatedly receiving bids from key government agencies such as the NHAI, the organization demonstrates its dependability. It now has a market capitalisation of around ₹1,120 crore. This latest contract helps to enhance its position in the competitive civil engineering sector.

Impact on Local Economy and Connectivity

Beyond the concrete and steel, this project reflects economic development. Large-scale building generates immediate job possibilities for local labourers and qualified engineers. It also increases the demand for local products such as cement, steel, and stone aggregates.

When completed, the enhanced NH-16 portion will reduce travel times for thousands of people each day. Better roads result in lower fuel usage and less wear and tear on automobiles. It is a long-term investment in the efficiency of Odisha’s transport system.

Looking Ahead

As A B Infrabuild mobilises resources for the Odisha project, all eyes will be on them. The successful completion of these three underpasses may lead to much larger mandates in the future. For the time being, the focus is on delivering high-quality infrastructure within an 18-month timeframe.

The NH-16 upgrade demonstrates the government’s commitment to modernisation. With enterprises like A B Infrabuild at the lead, the road to safer and faster Indian highways appears more bright.
