By announcing the allocation of 9,000 crore to ensure a steady flow of money for the project, the Tamil Nadu government has taken a step towards the construction of the metro rail project in Coimbatore. This information was made public by the state’s finance minister, Palanivel Thiaga Rajan, who stated that the Chennai Metro Rail Company Limited (CMRL) intends to provide metro train services on five lines in Coimbatore. A feasibility study was carried out in 2019 to see if the 144 km metro rail project could be implemented.
