MG Motor India has teamed up with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd to improve electric vehicle charging infrastructure on India’s national highways. The collaboration with BPCL will boost EV adoption by expanding intercity travel options, as the two companies will install EV chargers on highways and within cities. With BPCL’s extensive customer base and operations and MG’s foray into the electric vehicle market, the two companies can pool their resources to find strategic charging locations, gather consumer insights, design loyalty programmes, and develop technology to manage charging systems.

MG Motor India’s President and MD, Rajeev Chaba, stated, “Our collaboration with BPCL is yet another step toward energising and increasing customer confidence in electric vehicles in India. Because of BPCL’s strong presence and extensive network in India, existing and prospective customers will have easy access to charging solutions throughout the country.”

As the country moves into the era of mass electric mobility, BPCL Chairman and MD Arun Kumar Singh stated that sustainable consumption is the present and future. In the next 2-3 years, BPCL plans to install fast-charging corridors across the country’s major highways, interconnecting major cities and economic centres, and will have a network of 7,000 conveniently located fast-charging stations.
