Under Package UG03, URC Construction Pvt. Ltd. has started construction on Metro Line-3 of Chennai Metro Phase II. The event was conducted at Thousand Lights Metro Crossover and was a traditional Pooja. At Thousand Lights Metro Crossover, trench cutters are already being used for the construction, which includes diaphragm wall (D-wall) work.
After being given the contract under Package UG03-RT01 for ₹1328.89 crore by Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) subcontracted the construction to URC. With a schedule of 1725 days (4.72 years), the project involves the full civil construction of five subterranean stations and partial work on two stations.
