Railway expedites Dimapur-Kohima line in Nagaland

According to state transport minister P Paiwang Konyak, the north border railway has prioritised building a direct rail link from Dimapur-Dhansiripar to Kohima-Sechu by the year 2026. He also said that the wide gauge rail line was built in three sections. Phase-I, which spans a length of 0–17 km, is almost finished; Phase-II, which spans a length of 17–44 km; and Phase-III, which spans a length of 44–82.50 km, will begin shortly after Phase-II is finished. The PMO is keeping an eye on the railway line since the government of India wants to develop rail connectivity all the way to Moreh in Manipur.

The extension of passenger train service from Dimapur Railway Station to Tuli in Mokokchung District and then to Naginimora in Mon District has also been recommended by the state government. Recall that the project’s original completion date was 2024; however, due to delays in land acquisition, the Covid – 19 lock down, bad weather, and the lack of an approach road to the project sites, the deadline was pushed back to 2026.
