On its site buildings, the Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) will install solar power production equipment capable of producing 2 MW of energy. For the purpose of generating solar electricity, the facility and the Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) have inked an agreement. Additionally, a second project to construct around 3 MW of rooftop solar electricity systems on township homes and businesses is now under progress.
The completion of both projects might result in an annual reduction in carbon dioxide emissions of up to 2,900 tonnes, which would help protect the environment.
A Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) was also inked on May 9 by the BSP and NTPC-SAIL Power Supply Company Limited (NSPCL) for the establishment of a floating solar plant with a 15 MW capacity in the Maroda-1 reservoir.The floating solar plant will be finished by the next year, making it the first of its sort in the state. An estimated 34.26 million units of green electricity will be produced yearly by this project, all of which BSP would use as captive power.
Additionally, BSP plans to use NSPCL to construct a 35 MW floating solar power plant in the Maroda-2 reservoir during the next phase of development. For this project, a detailed project report (DPR) has already been prepared, and the bidding process will most likely start soon.
the solar energy projects’ two stages?The township, Maroda-1 and Maroda-2 reservoirs, the plant grounds, and the second phase, which is anticipated to be completed by the end of 2027, will all be included in the first. The addition of the electricity generated by these two projects to the power grid will benefit the facility as well as other locations.
