Shram Shakti and Transport Bhawans will be demolished to make way for MPs Chambers

According to housing and urban affairs ministry officials, offices at Shram Shakti Bhawan and Transport Bhawan are likely to begin moving to other structures in central Delhi in December in order to make room for the construction of Members of Parliament (MPs) Chambers close to the new Parliament building. Later, they will relocate to the Central Vista redevelopment project’s Common Central Secretariat buildings, which are now under construction.
The two newly constructed buildings at Kasturba Gandhi (KG) Marg were not able to be finished due to a disturbance in the supply chain, hence the relocating procedure was not able to begin as originally intended in October. But the structures won’t be finished until November. Three separate locations in downtown Delhi will receive the offices from these two structures.a ministry official who wished to remain unnamed remarked.

The 5.5 acre plots on which Shram Shakti and Transport Bhawans are situated are adjacent to one another. They will be destroyed to make room for the chambers, which will house MPs’ offices.

The 10-story skyscraper will include three levels of basement parking, according to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), the nodal organisation for the reconstruction project. “A tunnel will connect the building to the new Parliament building, which is nearby. Over 800 MPs will have offices there. The official stated that MPs do not currently have any offices in the current parliament building.

In order to meet the needs of the ministries, it also began the process of upgrading old facilities.

For the two ministries, CPWD has issued an invitation for bids to rehabilitate the Jodhpur Officers Hostel in Pandara Park. The rehabilitation project, which would cost 13.65 crore, will be finished in three months from the date of contract award.

The 12 blocks at the hostel will now house the ministries of tourism, skill development, and entrepreneurship. The workforce of the two ministries will be housed in 12 of the building’s 14 blocks. We have issued a request for proposals for the renovation of the blocks to accommodate the needs of the ministries, create room for ministers’ and senior officers’ offices, and turn them into ministry offices. The ministries will run out of these buildings, according to a CPWD officer who wished to remain unnamed.

The ministries of power, labour and employment, ports, shipping, and waterways will relocate to the recently built office complex at KG Marg. The Government of India Press building at will become the new home of the ministry of roads and road transportation.Added a second ministry representative, Minto Road.
