For the 82.5-kilometer metro rail project, the Pune Metro Rail Corporation has prepared a DPR, which has been presented to the Pune Municipal Corporation for final state and federal approval. The metro authorities also intend to complete Phase-33-km I’s route by March of the following year. The 10-kilometer section of the same phase was already operational in March, and the additional portions would be operationalized gradually. The Union government has received the DPR for the 5.9 km route from Swargate to Katraj and the 4.4 km route from PCMC to Nigdi for final clearance.
The DPR for the full 82.5-km route, which will be built out in Phase II, has virtually been completed, according to Maha-Metro, the project’s overseer. They have already given the PMC the DPR for the 46-km road, which is expected to cost $12,015 crore.
