Positive results from new mapping and rock chip sampling in the Greater Callion area have yielded five new gold drill targets for investigation, according to Ora Banda Mining Ltd (ASX:OBM).
Ora Banda’s Callion deposit, which has a resource of 200,000 ounces at an average grade of 6.4 g/t and is 14 kilometres southwest of the company’s 1.2 million tonnes per annum Davyhurst processing plant, is surrounded by Greater Callion.
Since 2021, the company has been exploring the area in the hopes of finding another Callion-style deposit. This most recent rock chip sampling programme has gotten it closer to that goal, with the best results being:
Lady Dorothy: 18.9 g/t; Callion North: 7.7 g/t; and Lady Kate: 6.7 g/t and 6.3 g/t. Welcome Stranger: 26.9 g/t and 18.6 g/t.
“Callion is a well-known mine in the Eastern Goldfields because of the ore lodes’ relatively high-grade tenor. Finding a deposit of this type in this area is a very appealing target for us.” Andrew Czerw, interim CEO of Ora Banda Mining, stated.
“It was a no-brainer for us to focus on the prospects surrounding the Callion mine because it is so close to our Davyhurst process plant and because the surrounding area has received such limited exploration due to its disjointed ownership history.”
“After the current reset plan, the greater Callion area will remain a high priority focus for life extension.”
“The recent mapping and high-grade rock chip results are very encouraging, and we now have five new drill targets.”
“In the meantime, we’ll continue to use an aircore rig to better define other areas with anomalous mineralization, which, if successful, will lead to future bedrock drilling.”
