Addressing Connectivity Gaps

Currently, a 68-kilometer stretch of the Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway, from Hoskote to Bethamangala near Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), is operational. However, the absence of a direct link to NH 75 forces motorists to navigate through narrow village roads, leading to congestion and safety concerns. The proposed link road would provide a seamless connection, improving travel efficiency and safety.

Proposed Route and Upgrades

The planned link road would connect the expressway from Sundarapalya to the Mulbagal side of NH 75. NHAI is considering upgrading Enhancing connectivity through this link road could justify the existing district and village roads to facilitate this connection. The agency has approached local authorities in Kolar district for technical details on road conditions and necessary improvements.

Implications for Toll Collection

Enhancing connectivity through this link road could justify the imposition of tolls on the expressway. Currently, the expressway sees a modest daily traffic of 1,800 to 2,000 vehicles. Improved access is expected to increase usage, making toll This initiative aims to enhance connectivity for motorists traveling towards Andhra Pradesh, including destinations like Chittoor and Tirupati collection more viable.

Safety Measures and Enforcement

Despite a nationwide ban on certain vehicles from expressway use, two-wheelers, autorickshaws, and tractors are frequently spotted on this stretch, leading to safety concerns. In response, local enforcement has been ramped up, with checkpoints established and coordination ongoing with NHAI to improve surveillance on the expressway.
