The Jalori tunnel project in Rampur, Shimla, has been accelerated by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). KL Suman, Executive Engineer, Rampur Division, revealed that two of the four organisations that took part in the tendering procedure qualified in the technical evaluation. On April 28, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways issued a tender for consultation for Rs 25 crore. The chosen player will design the tunnel, a double-lane bridge, and a 7-kilometer double-lane connecting road, as well as oversee the tunnel’s construction and maintenance over the next ten years.
The intention to construct a 4.2-kilometer tunnel across the Jalori Pass between Khanag and Ghayagi is to improve year-round vehicular mobility on the Aut-Luhri National Highway No. 305, which connects the Banjar and Anni Assembly seats of Kullu district.
