The National Capital Region Transport Corporation planned to construct its stations as retail hubs for the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) project between Meerut and Delhi. Vinay Kumar, MD of the NCRTC, stated that the organisation has distinct development plans for various stations because it wants to make non-fare revenue from the 30,000 crore project. The Asian Development Bank (ADB), New Development Bank (NDB), and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank all provided funding for the project (AIIB). Office workers will primarily use the high-speed rail on weekdays. The corporation has planned retail spaces all along the line to ensure that traffic comes in on the weekends as well.
At various stations, the corporation has also planned healthcare facilities, banquets, entertainment features, and food plazas. For the creation of an Influence Zone Plan (IZP) at Jangpura, the NCRTC has already hired a consultant, and it has also invited partners to offer consulting services for the creation of an IZP for the Anand Vihar Multimodal Transit Hub. This will assist the corporation in examining the potential for real estate in the vicinity of the stations. The UP and Delhi governments are supporting us in looking into non-fare revenue so that it does not have to keep the fare high for daily commuters. A project of this size always has a positive impact on the real estate of the surrounding area.
