In accordance with the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation of Urban Transformation, the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has sanctioned UT Water Action Plan (UTWAP) for 153 projects totaling 1,665.10 crore for 78 urban local authorities in Jammu and Kashmir (AMRUT). In addition to 50 water bodies, UTWAP will encompass 99 projects under the categories of water supply, four under sewerage, and seepage management. The funding includes provisions for the Housing and Urban Development Department to supply high-quality water continuously, to connect every household in Jammu and Kashmir to a water tap, and to cover households in three AMRUT mission cities, including Srinagar, under Sewerage and Seepage Management. Anantnag and Jammu. Additionally, as part of AMRUT 2.0, 2.25 lakh new tap home connections will be made available, and more than 4 lakh existing connections would be increased. AMRUT 2.0 would also increase the 54 MLD capacity of sewage treatment plants and give 72,872 sewage connections in the three mission cities of Srinagar, Jammu, and Anantnag.
