Metro Manila Subway construction set to start as tunnel boring machine lowered

Construction of the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) is set to start. The tunnel boring machine to be used to drill underground was lowered on Sunday.

A tunnel boring machine has been lowered and positioned in Valenzuela City. President Rodrigo Duterte, Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, and Japanese Ambassador Kazuhiko Koshikawa attended the ceremony for the first tunnel-boring machine to be used in the Philippines.

The project is funded by a loan granted to the Philippines by the Japanese government, he said. The 33-kilometer underground MMSP will have 17 stations that will be connected via a network of tunnels and bridges.
