MCC plans construction & demolition waste processing plant

The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation has made the decision to build a facility at Vellalore to process construction and demolition waste. In each of the five zones, collection points will be set up, from which the waste will be transported to the processing centre, according to MCC Commissioner M Prathap. The civic organisation is currently researching the goods that can be produced using the waste, including paver blocks. The solid waste management (SWM) fund, which the corporation receives annually and has already been allotted funds for this year, will be used to carry out the project.

Out of the previously approved 70 crore, proposals have been made for roughly 30 crore, with the goal of building a ramp at the garbage transfer station on Sathy Road close to Gandhipuram for 1 crore. A few years ago, the Gandhipuram flyover was being built, and construction on the old ramp caused damage. Pick-up truck garbage will be transferred to trucks and driven to the upcoming processing facility.
