Larsen & Toubro (L&T) said on Wednesday that its construction department has received orders worth up to 5,000 crore in Bangladesh. The company stated in a regulatory document that Larsen & Toubro’s transmission and distribution business has won a large number of transmission line orders in Bangladesh.
The engineering and construction company did not provide the exact value of the contract, but according to its project classification, “large” orders are orders worth between Rs 2,500 crore and Rs 5,000 crore. The company added that the scope of these packages covers the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of ultra-high voltage transmission lines.
“As Bangladesh’s goal this year is to achieve universal power access, the enhancement of power transmission capacity will improve the reliability and efficiency of the country’s power grid and promote the comprehensive development of its capital and economic growth center.
These projects will also provide cross-border power. Trading,” said T Madhava Das, a full-time director and senior executive vice president (utilities) of L&T. The company’s share price rose 1.13% on BSE to 1,385.25 rupees per share.
