Jio-bp, MG Motor and Castrol sign partnership to boost electric mobility in India

MG Motor India and Castrol India are set to collaborate with Jio-bp to explore mobility solutions for electric cars, in a move that is expected to boost EV adoption and mobility in India. Jio-bp, MG Motor, and Castrol will explore setting up four-wheeler EV charging infrastructure and expanding Castrol’s existing auto service network to accommodate EV customers as part of the partnership.

The partnership is in line with Jio-bp and MG Motor’s commitment to provide electric car customers with a large and reliable charging infrastructure while also speeding up EV adoption in India. Last year, Jio-bp constructed and launched two of India’s largest EV charging hubs, creating an ecosystem that will benefit all stakeholders in the EV value chain. Jio-bp pulse is the name of the JV’s electric mobility business, which provides charging infrastructure to Indian consumers. Customers can use the Jio-bp pulse mobile app to find nearby charging stations and charge their electric vehicles in a seamless manner.

MG Motor has been committed to electric mobility since its inception in India, with the goal of creating a sustainable future. By establishing a robust EV charging and service infrastructure in the country, the strategic partnership aims to create EV-friendly roads for inter-city and intra-city travel. MG has taken a number of steps to strengthen the EV ecosystem, including the launch of India’s first pure electric internet SUV, the ZS EV, which now has a range of 461 km on a single charge.

Castrol will start serving four-wheeler electric cars through its existing multi-brand Auto Service network and Express Oil Change centres as part of the partnership. These services will initially be available across India at Jio-bp mobility stations and select Castrol Auto Service workshops, and will cater to both electric and non-electric four-wheelers. Castrol will also assist in the installation of EV charging infrastructure across its auto service network. With the growing popularity of electric vehicles, car mechanics will need to be up to date on the latest automotive technologies. Castrol will take advantage of its extensive network of car mechanics to provide them with specialised EV training and certification.
