Gujarat Govt Unveils ₹96,240 Cr Expressway Projects

Gujarat government announces two major expressway projects worth ₹96,240 crore for infrastructure enhancement. The Namo Shakti Motorway and Somnath-Dwarka Motorway will cost ₹39,120 and ₹57,120 crore respectively, with ₹520 crore allocated for FY2025.

The Gujarat government has unveiled an ambitious infrastructure plan, allocating ₹96,240 crore for the development of two new expressways and 12 high-speed corridors.   3. Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridor Project: Under this initiative, 12 new high-speed corridors spanning 1,367 kilometers will be developed. The project has an allocation of ₹1,020 crore, with specific routes to be announced in due course.

Additional Infrastructure Developments

  • Bhuj-Nakhatrana Four-Lane High-Speed Corridor: An allocation of ₹937 crore has been made for this 50-kilometer corridor, aiming to improve connectivity in the Kutch region.
  • Greenfield Airport in Dahod: The budget includes ₹45 crore for the development of a new airport in Dahod, enhancing air connectivity in the region.

Current Road Network and Budget Allocation

As of 2024, Gujarat boasts a total road network of 1.11 lakh kilometers, comprising 6,922 kilometers of national highways, 20,585 kilometers of state highways, and 84,000 kilometers of district and rural roads. In the 2024-25 budget, the government allocated ₹10,045 crore for the construction, maintenance, and expansion of roadways, underscoring its commitment to infrastructure development.
