On Saturday, an enforcement team from the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GDMA) cleared the green belt along the MG Road from Dronacharya Metro Station to Neel Kanth Hospital, where several illegal constructions appeared. GDMA officials stated that about 50 illegally constructed small and large buildings were demolished because they were constructed on the green belt in violation of regulations. 6 restaurants, 4 guest rooms, 4 mobile canteens, 2 nurseries, 2 building materials shops and other illegally set up such buildings were removed from the green belt.

GDMA junior engineer Sandeep Lot said that the authorities received complaints from local residents about shops, vendors and restaurants on the green belt, and they subsequently took action against illegal construction. “The green belt was illegally invaded and all structures were demolished during the driving process. Lot said that the owners were required to remove their goods and belongings first, and then demolish them.

The officials of the enforcement team further stated that the roads along the MG road and around Sikanderpur Illegal buildings will be demolished in the next few days. “Any places where green belts and government land are illegally occupied will be cleared. We also require residents to inform the law enforcement agencies of different agencies of any such illegally constructed structures,” Lot said.
