Construction Workers Seek Fulfilment Of Their Demands
Mysore/Mysuru: On Monday, the Karnataka State Construction Workers and Quarry Workers Association (AIUTUC) protested the government’s decision to provide the Slum Clearance Board access to Rs. 433 crore from the Karnataka State Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Fund. They requested to meet their other requests and demanded its withdrawal.
The demonstrators, who had gathered in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, also asked that Rs. 2 lakh be paid straight to the bank accounts of building contractors who had submitted applications for subsidies to build their homes in accordance with the law.

They demanded a judicial investigation, alleging that the Labour Welfare Board had committed irregularities in the purchase of the meal kit, booster kit, and tool kit issued during the COVID-19 pandemic. A cashless service such as State Government Arogya Sanjeevani-2021 or Employees State Insurance (ESI) should be offered to registered construction workers and their families in place of the current Center for Human Genetics (CHG) plan. Participating were Vice-President Shivanna, District Secretary Mujahid Pasha, District General Secretary of the Association K.G. Somaraje Urs, and others.
