Construction Work On Enchakkal Flyover Begins, Expected To Be Completed In 18 Months
The flyover, which is scheduled to have nine spans, each measuring 25 meters in length, will be four lanes.

While Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, has been undergoing major infrastructural development, the city’s Enchakkal Flyover has finally received approval, and construction has already started.

On the project, the piling work began last week. The much anticipated flyover will begin at the Chackai flyover’s terminal and go till the Muttathara overpass connects to the NH66 bypass.

Eliminating traffic at the Enchakkal Junction is the primary goal of the Enchakkal flyover construction. As reported by the Times of India, the central government had approved financial approval for the Enchakkal flyover project, which is estimated at Rs 47 crore.

It is anticipated that the Enchakkal Junction construction project will last for eighteen months. The flyover, which is scheduled to have nine spans, each measuring 25 meters in length, will be four lanes. The Cherian Varkey Construction Company has taken on the construction project of the flyover and will operate as the flyover’s project contractor.

The Enchakkal intersection has been a significant source of traffic congestion in the region for a long time, which has raised demand for flyovers. The building of this flyover will facilitate easier car traffic between Vizhinjam, Shankhumugham, and Kovalam to the city center.

Located along the busy Kazhakkootam-Mukkola NH corridor, the flyover will function as a junction for vehicles coming from East Fort, Vallakadavu, Attakulangara, and Pettah-Enchakkal.

In the past, traffic would get heavier along the Chackai to Kovalam service road, causing the cars to eventually stop for fifteen to twenty minutes. With the completion of this flyover, traffic congestion is anticipated to improve.

Aside from that, the authorities approved the construction of a new service bridge at Thiruvallam, which will span 12 meters. On the eastern side, the service bridge is slated to run parallel to the currently-existing old bridge. The bridge was built to stop the concerning number of mishaps that have happened nearby.
