CIDCO clears 1,160 ha land for Navi Mumbai airport

The entire 1,160 hectares of land has been made available for airport construction. The Navi Mumbai International Airport Limited (NMIAL) crossed a major hurdle with CIDCO clearing all the 3070 structures in the project area and the entire site for development.

The rehabilitation of more than 5,000 families from villages is also nearing completion. As many as 10 villages in Panvel taluka of Raigad district have been acquired. Public buildings, churches as well as public and privately owned 56 temples have been relocated to the rehabilitation area.

Navi Mumbai airport is a greenfield project that will service passengers in the Mumbai metropolitan region. A total of 27 constructions including community temples, schools and cemeteries have been evicted. The Mumbai International Airport Ltd (MIAL) owns 74% stake in NMIAL.
