Hitachi Rail Signalling and Transportation Systems India was awarded one of the largest contracts in Chennai Metro Rail Ltd.’s Phase II project for designing and developing signalling software. A dependable signalling system is essential for Chennai Metro Rail’s Phase II driverless train operations since it controls a variety of tasks, including as announcements in stations and trains and other vital parts of train operations.
It is planned that Phase II of the project will use a different signalling method than Phase I. The communications-based train control signalling system, which administrators claim is a better and more accurate system, will be implemented in Phase II as opposed to the distance-to-go signalling system that CMRL built for the Phase I project. Trains from the Phase I project won’t run in Phase II as a result. Wherever there are interchange stations, commuters must disembark, walk a short distance, and then board the train.
