32 km Highway Declared National Highway for Vadhavan Port Project

The 32 km section from NH 48 (Tawa Junction) to the proposed Vadhavan Port has been formally designated as a national highway by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This important move, which was made public on August 12 through a gazette notice, intends to expedite the process of acquiring property for the projected 8-lane road link to the new port.

For the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), which is leading the Vadhavan Port project, this road segment’s national highway classification is essential. The port project, which is estimated to be around Rs 76,220 crore, is an important piece of regional infrastructure. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) Act currently governs the road link, making the land purchase procedure simpler. Nonetheless, Vadhavan Port Project Ltd (VPPL), the special purpose organization in charge of carrying out the port project, would pay the land acquisition costs.
