ZF Showcased Efficient, Electrified Drive Systems at bauma 2025

ZF, a leading provider of electric drive systems, showcased its latest advancements at bauma Munich 2025 under the theme “The Future of Construction.” The company focused on electrified and highly efficient drive concepts aimed at reducing emissions, wear, energy loss, and operating costs. ZF’s CeTrax 2 and CeTrax 2 dual.

Electric central drives are designed to support the evolving needs of construction companies and fleet operators. These systems are based on the modular electric drive platform for heavy commercial vehicles and are suitable for platforms demanding all-wheel-drive applications in trucks, designed as combustion engines.

ZF also presented high-tech solutions that optimize efficiency and performance in the diesel driveline at its booth. Exhibits included EcoLife Offroad 2, a powershift transmission system for medium to heavy vehicles, TraXon DynamicPerform 2, a multidisk starting clutch for the modular TraXon 2 transmission, VG 750|400, and TC.

27, a transfer case for demanding all-wheel-drive applications in trucks, all-terrain cranes, dump trucks, and other special vehicles. ZF believes that the challenging market environment can only be mastered through progress and constant improvement The company also showcased other products, including brake.

In addition to these exhibits, ZF also announced the availability of new aftermarket machines for excavators and dozers. The company is committed playing to its strengths and continues to innovate in the industry systems and tractio demanding terrain commercial vehicles and are suitable for platforms these exhibits.

ZF Friedrichshafen AG, one of the global leaders in driveline and chassis technology, made a powerful statement at bauma 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for construction machinery, by unveiling its latest electrified and highly efficient drive systems tailored for the construction and off-highway sectors.

With sustainability and efficiency becoming central themes across the heavy machinery landscape, ZF’s cutting-edge portfolio at bauma 2025 reinforced the company’s commitment to decarbonizing construction operations and accelerating the transition to cleaner, smarter mobility solutions.

A Shift Toward Electrification

At the core of ZF’s showcase was a new generation of fully electric and hybrid drive solutions designed for excavators, wheel loaders, and dump trucks. These systems were engineered to deliver zero-emission operation, higher energy efficiency, and reduced maintenance requirements—key benefits for OEMs and operators looking.

Among the highlights was ZF’s eTRAC electric drive platform, which combines electric motors, power electronics, and transmission units into a compact module. Tailored specifically for mid-size and compact construction machinery, eTRAC enables precise torque delivery and silent operation—ideal for urban job sites.

Smart Power for Off-Highway Machines

ZF also introduced its Modular Electric Driveline (MED) concept at bauma 2025. This system allows machine manufacturers to select from various components—motors, batteries, transmissions, and control units—to create customized electrification strategies for different applications and sizes.

In addition to full electrification, ZF presented hybrid-ready drive systems for larger construction equipment where full electrification is not yet feasible due to load cycles or energy storage limitations. These hybrid options offer substantial fuel savings and emission reductions while ensuring the same rugged performance customers expect from traditional diesel systems.

Intelligent System Integration

A key strength of ZF’s approach lies in system-level integration. All electrified drive solutions are embedded with advanced control software and connectivity features, enabling seamless communication between driveline components, machine control systems, and remote monitoring platforms.

Focus on Sustainability and Lifecycle Efficiency

ZF emphasized the environmental advantages of electrified systems, including reduced greenhouse gas emissions, lower noise pollution, and a smaller carbon footprint across the product lifecycle. With global regulations tightening around off-highway emissions, these innovations are expected to help OEMs comply with.
