The ambassador of Japan, Mr. Shigeki Sumi, visited the construction sites of the South Gujarat bullet train in Ahmedabad and Surat. He was accompanied by officials from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Indian Railways. The ambassador was briefed about the progress of the construction work by the officials. He also inspected the construction work of the viaducts and the tunnels. The ambassador was satisfied with the progress of the construction work and expressed his hope that the bullet train project will be completed on time.
On Wednesday, Hiroshi Suzuki, the Japanese ambassador to India, and Rajendra Prasad, the managing director of the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), visited the South Gujarat bullet train construction sites to assess the project’s development.
Suzuki toured the Purna River, the casting yards in the Surat and Navsari districts, and the under-construction bullet train station in Surat City.
The team that visited the site included Assistant Director Yuki Tokuda, Minister of Economic and Development Kyoko Hokugo, Director of International Engineering Affairs Hiroshi Ishirara, and Minister of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.
