The Visakhapatnam-Bhogapuram beach corridor construction process has been launched by the Union Transport Ministry, and a detailed project report is currently being prepared. The State government has proposed expanding the current beach road to a six-lane stretch, connecting the Vizag port container terminal to NH-16 at Bhogapuram via Rushikonda and Bheemili, according to Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. The ministry has instructed NHAI to draught the feasibility-cum-DPR report; the organisation has hired a consultant, and a decision will soon be made based on the study’s findings.
Along with the beach corridor project, the state government has suggested offering opportunities for the development of tourist attractions, logistic hubs, urban and social development projects, and service industries. Also being considered is the idea of building a different route from Gangavaram Port to NH 16 via the Steel Plant.
