Uttarakhand to get India’s longest ₹23,000 cr railway tunnel

The longest tunnel in India, measuring 14 kilometres long between Devprayag and Janasu, will be part of the projected 125-kilometer Rishikesh-Karnaprayag broad gauge rail link project in Uttarakhand.

There will be 11 stations between Virbhadra and Karnaprayag on the track, which would begin at Virbhadra in Rishikesh. By the end of December 2024, the project is anticipated to be finished. After modification, the project’s original cost of 16,216 crore increased to 23,00 crore.
