The 30-km long Agra Metro Rail project, scheduled to be completed by 2024, has been expedited by the Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation. The massive metro project is expected to alter Taj City’s appearance and quicken the socioeconomic growth of the area.
The project calls for building two corridors. Between Sikandra and the Taj East Gate, the first corridor will be constructed, and between Agra Cantt and Kalindi Vihar, the second.
Between Taj East Gate and Jama Masjid, a portion of nearly six kilometres will rise under the first corridor. Between Taj East Gate and Basai, along with the Metro Train Depot, a three kilometre long elevated corridor is now being built civilly.
Another significant milestone has been reached by the Agra Metro team with the building of the D-wall at the Agra Fort Metro Station being halfway complete. 33 of the 66 D-wall structures have been finished, and the guide wall work has already been finished entirely on 33 of the 66.
Between Taj Mahal Metro Station and RBS College Metro Station is designated as the Underground (UG) Section of Agra Metro’s Corridor-I. Top-Down construction is being used to build UG Metro Stations. In the first corridor’s underground segment, seven metro stations—the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Jama Masjid, Medical College, Agra College, Raja Ki Mandi, and RBS College—will be constructed.
