UP pushes ₹15,000 cr rural road network

The government of Uttar Pradesh has announced the construction of a 19,000-kilometer road network across the state, costing $15,000 crore. Under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, the targeted road network will be completed in the next two years (PMGSY). The project aims to transform the villages’ economies and provide seamless connectivity in these areas. The project will not only relieve traffic congestion in these areas’ city clusters, but it will also create jobs by allowing farmers to transport agricultural produce such as food grains, vegetables, and milk to marketplaces, thereby increasing their income and improving their socio-economic conditions.

The government has set a goal of completing 8000 kilometres of road in the next six months, with the remaining length to be completed after that. Because of the state’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure, far-flung villages, rural, and remote areas are now becoming part of the state’s mainstream development.
