This initiative aims to ensure sufficient rail rakes for the long-distance transport of fly ash, facilitating its effective utilization. ​

Odisha’s current operational coal-based thermal power capacity stands at 20 GW, with plans to add another 10 GW over the next five to six years. The Union Minister encouraged the development of additional pit-head thermal power plants in the state, potentially through joint ventures with other states’ generation companies (GENCOs).

In terms of transmission, Odisha officials outlined strategies for enhancing intra-state infrastructure, including efforts to improve power supply to cities like Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. The Minister was briefed on the Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited’s (OPTCL) initiatives to resolve Right of Way.
