UltraTech Cement announces Rs 12,886 cr capex towards capacity expansion

UltraTech Cement, a flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group of companies, has approved a capex of Rs 12,886 crore for capacity development.

With a mix of brownfield and greenfield expansion, the business will increase capacity by 22.6 million tpa.

Setting up integrated and grinding equipment, as well as bulk terminals, would accomplish this. The extra capacity will be built all around the country.

The company currently has a capacity of 119.95 million tpa for grey cement. The current capacity utilisation rate is 77%.

By FY25, the intended capacity will be expanded in stages. The expansion would be funded using a combination of loans and internal accruals.

The current expansion programme at UltraTech is on target to be completed by the end of FY23.
