Tripura to get 50 km roads made with plastic waste in Agartala

The Tripura government has chosen to create over 50 km of road length in the city utilising plastic garbage in a staggered manner in response to the central government’s resolve to phase out single-use plastic items by this year.

Sushanta Chowdhury stated, “Our PWD department has proposed to make all the major roads with non-degradable waste, largely single-use plastic and the cabinet has given the go-ahead. We are taking a cue from the success of 1km road stretch in the city made by plastic waste and the decision to phase-out single-use plastic.
