Project

The MoRTH is moving on with a $1.900 million Jharkhand-Bihar link project.

The Union transport ministry has accelerated work on the 1,900-crore national highway project, which includes a new bridge over the Ganga connecting Jharkhand’s Sahibganj and Bihar’s Manihari. By the end of 2024, it is expected to be completed. This six-kilometer bridge, which is the world’s third-longest, will substantially shorten the travel distance between two states.

It is also part of a project to construct a new 21.68-kilometer NH-133B link between Jharkhand and Bihar. The Ganga Bridge, the Manihari Bypass, and the enlargement of NH-131A are all part of this project. This new highway link will act as a major connecting point to North-Eastern India once completed, reducing traffic congestion at Bhagalpur’s VikramShila Setu Bridge.
