The extension of the Purvanchal Expressway to Bhagalpur via Patna in Bihar has been approved by the Union Transport Ministry, as the project was previously planned from Lucknow to Buxar. A team from the Union Ministry of Transport has been dispatched to the state to prepare a feasibility study report. The Koilwar-Bihta four-lane highway has been ordered to be completed by the central ministry. Invitations to tender were also issued for projects worth up to Rs. 12,00 crore. The Danapur-Bihta elevated road, which will cut the distance between Patna and Ara in half, as well as the widening of four lanes on the Adalwari-Manikpur, Manikpur-Sahebganj, and Sahebganj-Areraj roads, are among the projects.
The Centre has also agreed to finish the alignment work on a bridge over the Gandak river on the Adalwari Manikpur road by the end of this month. The state also asked the central government to approve the remaining 370-kilometer road projects under the Bharatmala and PM’s special package. These include widening the Sultanganj-Deoghar Kanwariya road to four lanes and connecting the state’s tourist destinations of Bodhgaya and Rajgir to the Amas-Darbhanga Expressway.
