The government plans to spend ₹31,000-cr on border roads and bridges

The Central government has proposed the construction of 64 strategic roads totaling 3,508 kilometres and 103 bridges along the India-China, Indo-Pakistan, and Indo-Myanmar border areas, at a cost of over 31,000 crore. The majority of the roads and all of the bridges will be built in states like Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur.

Sikkim, Mizoram, J&K, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Himachal Pradesh, which are close to the India-China border. The proposals are currently being considered by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS). The strategic roads identified for the ‘India @75 Strategic Roads Package (ISRP)’ will also help close the road head differential gap with neighbouring countries. investment.

They claimed that, with the exception of Kameng Sector, which is the border area opposite Tawang, the distance between the road head and the Indian border varies between 20 and 120 kilometres in Arunachal Pradesh.

In the case of China, however, it is less than 8 kilometres all the way along the border. Projects in India-China border areas would receive nearly 78 percent of the total investment, while roads proposed in India-Pakistan border areas would receive another 14 percent of the total investment.
