A 210-meter-long pre-stressed concrete (PSC) bridge over National Highway-48 at Dabhan village, near Nadiad in Gujarat’s Kheda district, was completed on January 9, 2025. Located between the Anand and Ahmedabad Bullet Train stations, the bridge features 72 precast segments with a span configuration of 40m + 65m + 65m + 40m. Constructed using the Balanced Cantilever Method, it is designed for long spans.
As of January 11, 2025, the Bullet Train project has made significant progress:253 km of viaduct, 290 km of girder casting, and 358 km of pier work are completed.
- Bridges over 13 rivers and five steel bridges are finished.
- Noise barriers are installed across 112 km. Track construction is underway at multiple locations in Gujarat. In Maharashtra, work is progressing on a 21 km tunnel between BKC and Thane, and seven mountain tunnels are under construction in Palghar district. Meanwhile, a mountain tunnel in Valsad district, Gujarat, is complete.
Bullet Train Corridor: Bridge Across NH-48 Completed
In a significant milestone for India’s high-speed rail project, the construction of the bridge over NH-48 for the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor has been successfully completed. This achievement marks a crucial step in the development of the country’s first bullet train, which aims and Ahmedabad by significantly reducing travel time.
The bridge, located near Vadodara, is part of the elevated corridor that will carry the high-speed rail line across National Highway 48, one of India’s busiest roadways. The construction of this bridge was a complex engineering challenge, requiring meticulous planning and execution to ensure while maintaining structural integrity and safety.
According to officials from the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the bridge was built using advanced construction techniques, including precast segmental technology, to ensure precision and speed. The structure was designed to withstand high-speed rail operations while adhering to stringent safety and durability standards.
The completion of the NH-48 bridge is a testament to the rapid progress of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train Corridor, a flagship project under India’s infrastructure modernization plan. The 508-kilometer corridor, being developed with technical and financial assistance from cut between Mumbai and Ahmedabad from over six hours to just two hours.
With multiple bridges, viaducts, and stations under construction along the route, the NH-48 bridge completion signals the project’s steady advancement. As work continues, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet Train is poised to become a game-changer for India’s transportation sector, promoting economic growth, regional connectivity, and technological progress.
The construction of the bridge across NH-48 for India’s ambitious Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor has been successfully completed, marking a significant milestone in the project. The bridge, built to accommodate the high-speed rail track, is a crucial component of the corridor, ensuring seamless connectivity while minimizing disruptions to existing road traffic.
Designed with advanced engineering techniques, the bridge spans a key section of NH-48, one of India’s busiest highways. The construction was executed using modern pre-cast segmental technology to enhance efficiency and safety. Despite challenges such as traffic management and logistical constraints, the project was completed within the planned timeframe.
This achievement highlights the steady progress of India’s first bullet train corridor, which is being developed by the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL). The high-speed rail project, expected to significantly reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, is a key part of India’s transportation modernization efforts.
With the NH-48 bridge now completed, further construction on viaducts, stations, and track installation will continue at a rapid pace. The bullet train project is set to transform India’s railway infrastructure, offering world-class transportation and boosting economic growth along the corridor.
