This will result in a 30 minute reduction in travel time between CSMT and Karjat. A component of the Mumbai Urban Transport Project (MUTP) 3 is the doubling of the suburban railway corridor between Panvel and Karjat. Since receiving a green light in 2016, the project has been stalled because of difficulties procuring land.
