The ₹1,346.81 crore Andhra Pradesh Highway Extension has been approved

₹1,346.81 crore has been allocated by Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, to enlarge the two-lane paved shoulder that currently exists on National Highway 716 in Andhra Pradesh. The project entails converting it to a 4-lane layout with a paved shoulder that extends from the border between Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh to Puttur (20.03 km). Furthermore, as part of Package 2, the districts of Chittoor and Tirupati would see the enlargement of the current 4-lane paved shoulder on NH-71 from Mallavaram junction to Renigunta junction (17.40 km) to a 6-lane paved shoulder using the HAM method. The development’s primary goal is to turn the designated area into a completely access-controlled corridor that connects the holy cities of Tiruthani and Tirupathi.
