Telangana takes up ₹2,200cr new NH projects

In the Khammam region, the Telangana government plans to build three new greenfield highways at a cost of Rs 2,200 crore. The cost of constructing a four-lane access-controlled greenfield highway section of NH-365BG (Khammam – Devarapalle section) from Thallampadu to Somavaram village, a distance of 33 km, will be Rs.772 crore.

Apart from that, under the Khammam-Devarapalle section of NH-365BG, four-lane access-controlled greenfield highways will be built from Somavaram to Chintagudem villages (29 km) for a total investment of 637 crore, as well as from Chintagudem village to Thumburu village (42 km) for a total investment of 804 crore. The Green Highways (Plantation, Beautification, and Maintenance) Policy is being used to build these highways. Along the highway, the implementing agency must plant shrubs that act as natural air pollution sinks.

The Union transport ministry has appointed land acquisition authorities for the development of a greenfield regional expressway connecting Sangareddy, Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri via Medak and Siddipet on Hyderabad’s northern outskirts. The Centre has set aside Rs 1,556 crore for the four-laning of two existing lanes on NH-365BB between Suryapet and Khammam (old SH-42). This 59-kilometer stretch is critical for the state because it connects Telangana to Andhra Pradesh’s ports.
