The Kanpur Metro Project has completed its third Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) “Parvati” at Rawatpur Station for Line 2, extending 8.38 km from Agriculture University to Barra-8. The contract, valued at Rs 7.62 billion, includes twin tunnels for Line 2’s underground section and the construction of three underground stations.

The TBM Parvati is a Herrenknecht Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) Machine, and the 7th TBM commissioned for Kanpur Metro Phase 1. The Kanpur Metro project has achieved a significant milestone with the deployment of Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) ‘Parvati’ at Rawatpur Station for Line 2. This 8.38 km corridor will connect Agriculture University to Barra-8, enhancing urban mobility in Kanpur.

TBM ‘Parvati’ Overview

TBM ‘Parvati’ (S-840C) is a refurbished Herrenknecht Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) TBM ‘Parvati’ will undertake two primary tunneling tasks machine with a diameter of 6.5 meters.
