Tata Power partners with Hyundai Motor India to power up EV charging infrastructure in India

Tata Power has formed a strategic partnership with Hyundai Motor India (HMIL), the country’s first smart mobility solutions provider and largest exporter since its inception, to develop a robust EV charging network and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles across the country.

Hyundai Motor India will become a key contributor to the expansion of high-quality charging infrastructure as a result of this partnership.

The MoU was signed at HMIL’s headquarters in Gurugram, Haryana, in the presence of Dr Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD of Tata Power, and Unsoo Kim, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India.

Tata Power will install Tata Power EZ Charge fast chargers (DC 60 kW) at HMIL’s 34 EV dealer locations across 29 cities, as well as supply, install, and commission home charging for HMIL’s EV customers, as part of the partnership. Tata Power and HMIL will be key contributors to the expansion of charging infrastructure as a result of their partnership. All 34 HMIL dealer locations now have AC 7.2 kW chargers, and the company plans to expand the fast charging infrastructure network across its dealerships across India. Customers will benefit greatly from this new partnership because a DC 60 kW charger takes much less time to charge a vehicle than an AC 7.2 kW charger. Customers will benefit from the addition of 60 kW DC charging stations.

“Our partnership with Hyundai Motor India aligns with the Indian government’s National Electric Mobility Mission Plan and demonstrates our commitment to leading India’s clean energy and net-zero goals,” Sinha said. Tata Power’s EV charging expertise, combined with comprehensive charging solutions and countrywide ownership of Hyundai vehicles, will aid in the development of sustainable mobility infrastructure, accelerating EV adoption.”

“Realizing Hyundai’s global vision of ‘Progress for Humanity,’ and in line with our new brand direction of ‘Beyond Mobility,’ Hyundai Motor India is pleased to announce its partnership with Tata Power to facilitate and strengthen India’s robust EV ecosystem and enhance the general outlook on sustainable transportation, reaffirming Hyundai’s vision to integrate social responsibility with economic prosperity and community we serve,” said Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India. Customers’ adoption of electric vehicles is critical to achieving the national goal of carbon neutrality, and such strategic partnerships are critical. This partnership will boost the country’s electric mobility mission by providing end-to-end EV charging infrastructure at HMIL dealerships, as well as the supply, installation, and commissioning of home charging for HMIL EV customers, enhancing customer convenience and ease of adoption of electric vehicles.”

Customers of all-electric vehicles will be able to use charging stations at HMIL dealerships as part of the collaboration. Tata Power will also provide end-to-end charging solutions at the homes of HMIL’s EV owners for their convenience, resulting in hassle-free EV ownership.

Tata Power will invest in, own, and operate the charging stations, with space and administrative approvals provided by HMIL dealerships. Customers across the country will benefit from the easy accessibility of charging stations provided by HMIL and the Tata Power EZ Charge mobile app.
