SWR starts work on ₹492.8 cr four lanes bridge

As part of the 38-km long railway track quadrupling project for Bengaluru Cantonment-KR Puram-Whitefield, the South Western Railway (SWR) has started demolition and reconstruction work on the Mosque Road-over-Bridge close to Pulikeshinagar. This project is expected to cost SWR 492.8 crore.

Between Cantonment and Whitefield stations, the current double railway track will be changed into four lines, and a new bridge will be rebuilt to the established requirements. This project includes the renovation of Bengaluru East Railway Station, which is being carried out by the Gati Shakti unit of the Bengaluru division. There will be no private land purchased for this project, which is anticipated to take about two years, and the new over-bridge will be enlarged with walkways for pedestrians and elevated in height.
