Satya Nadella does not like the term ‘Artificial Intelligence’: ‘I wish we called it…’

Having expressed a different perspective on human-computer interaction, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that he does not really like the term artificial intelligence. Speaking about the custom of imputing human characteristics to machines, he declared, “I dislike anthropomorphizing artificial intelligence. I think of it as a tool, sort of.”

The term “artificial intelligence” was first used in the 1950s, and the speaker expressed distaste for it, saying, “I think one of the most unfortunate names is ‘artificial intelligence’ — I wish we had called it ‘different intelligence’.” as I am intelligent. No artificial intelligence is necessary for me.”

Satya Nadella agreed that there is a natural inclination to characterise AI in terms of humans. According to him, people look for methods to comprehend the intricate algorithms that underlie software and use approachable terminology like “learning” to describe how it works. According to him, this might get stronger in the future as businesses produce more sophisticated AI that can have conversations in real time.

Satya Nadella emphasised the need of user knowledge while stating that artificial intelligence (AI) software’s capabilities are not the same as human intellect. “If you want to call it that, it has intelligence, but it’s not the same intelligence that I have,” he remarked.
