RITES to Supply 200 Passenger Carriages to Bangladesh Railways

Leading engineering and consulting company RITES has won a contract worth Rs 915 crore to provide Bangladesh Railways with 200 broad gauge passenger carriages. RITES will supply the carriage as well as design knowledge, spare part support, and training services. According to the deal, there will be a 36-month supply and commissioning period and a 24-month warranty period after that. The contract, which was funded by the European Investment Bank, was chosen via an international competitive bidding process.

With this contract, RITES’s support for Bangladesh’s railway infrastructure development is further strengthened. In the past, the company worked with Bangladesh Railways on a number of infrastructure projects and provided 120 broad gauge passenger coaches, 36 broad gauge locomotives and 10 metre gauge locomotives.
