Railways unveils ₹34,000cr safety infra upgrades

The Indian Railways has chalked out ₹34,000 crore rail infra plans including a safety upgrade of its network across the country. Project Kavach aims at ensuring safer rail travel while minimizing collisions and accidents and for the deployment of the system along 34,000-km rail routes. The entire project will be completed in the next five years. It will also be implemented on the Delhi-Mumbai and Delhi-Howrah corridors as part of the ‘Mission Raftar’ project for increasing the speed of trains to 160-km per hour.
