The government of Tamil Nadu is getting ready to begin the land acquisition process for the construction of a high-speed rail corridor between Mysuru and Chennai via Bengaluru, which will cover the 435-km distance in about three hours as opposed to the current 8–9 hours. In order to complete the project as soon as possible, the Center recently instructed National High-Speed Rail Corporation to submit a thorough project report.
It will cost 1.2 lakh crore to construct it along the 10-lane NH between Bengaluru and Mysuru. Land will be provided by the state government, and the Center will pay for all building expenses. In two years, it is anticipated that nine new rail lines, including Munirabad-Mahbubnagar, Tumakuru-Rayadurga, Chikkamagaluru-Belur, and Tumakuru-Davanagere, will be operational.
