Since the country’s rail industry needs over 2 lakh forged wheels each year, the Union Railway Ministry has released a tender for the production of forged wheels for 1,000 crores. A guarantee of off-take will be granted to the tender’s bidders.
The Indian Railways have announced a tender for the first time inviting private parties to construct a wheel facility and produce wheels for high-speed trains, according to Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. The following stage is to release an RFP for the establishment of a plant that will also produce high-speed rail tracks.
Only local steel manufacturers and railway wheel factories will be permitted to participate in the soon-to-be-floated tender for the production of high-speed rails. Under the floated tender, about 80,000 forged wheels will need to be produced each year.
