The Jolarpet Krishnagiri-Hosur railway line has been approved by the Railway Board, and 2.45 crore has been allocated for the preparation of an in-depth project report that must be finished in three to four months. The Railway Board had repeatedly rejected the project as being financially unviable, but this was the first time in the previous 70 years that they had given it their blessing. Additionally, the project will receive budgetary support during the current fiscal year, according to the Union Railway Minister. The railway line, which was in use until the 1940s, was demolished, and over the past seven decades, numerous surveys have been conducted; each survey has concluded that the project’s Rate of Return (ROR) is negative and, therefore, unfeasible.
