Pune Metro plans commercial complex at central business district

In addition to the Metro station where three separate Metro lines will intersect, Pune Metro plans to build a central business district and transfer junction in Shivajinagar close to the Pune District Court that would include a commercial complex of 10 lakh square feet and a bus terminal. The master plan for the massive construction project in Shivajinagar, in the centre of the city, which will house cutting-edge buildings with a variety of amenities, has been finalised by the Pune Metro Rail.

Brijesh Dixit, MD at MahaMatro, revealed that the development’s overall master plan has been prepared in two stages. The interchange station for the Vanaz to Ramwadi Line-1 and the Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate Line-2 will be built in the first phase. By December 2022, this interchange station will be finished.

The Pimpri Chinchwad to Swargate route’s underground station will be 28 metres below ground. The structure has been constructed so that the main skylight will offer natural light all the way down to the underground station’s platform level. A common interchange lobby will be located on the ground floor of the elevated station for the Vanaz to Ramwadi Metro rail line, which will be 14 metres above ground and diagonal to the underground Metro rail route.
